A note from Chris on Christmas Eve 2007
Tripoli, Libya
December 24, 2007
Dear Family and Friends,
Herewith a Barbary Coast lyric for your holiday enjoyment and a photo of yours truly with a couple of local sheikhs in traditional garb, celebrating the “Eid al-Adha,” or “Feast of the Sacrifice”, which took place a few days ago. Much mutton and tea were consumed and savored by all!
Now, gather ‘round the ol’ Steinway and sing….
“From the halls of Foggy Bottom, to the shores of Tripoli,
We advance our Nation’s interests, in the land of Qadhafi.
In our pinstripes and black wing-tips, we’re the best that we can be;
As we go from souk to citadel, to conduct diplomacy.”
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
Chris
My own darling,
You were indeed the best anyone could be; as you went from souk to citadel to conduct your brilliant style of diplomacy.
Ramesh
